Rainbows

We spent some time in Hawaii and that’s where my fascination with rainbows began. They seemed to be absolutely everywhere I looked, sometimes even in double rainbows! I love the way the rainbow starts with red at the top and goes through orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and ends with violet as the bottom band. They are true icons of beauty and joy and I became totally smitten with them. And they now define me…

As a yogi, I am very interested in and connected to the concept of the chakra system and its energy centers in our body. Each of these 7 energy centers represents a different area of our life and is associated with a different color from red to purple, and from the root chakra up to the crown chakra. I saw a similarity between the chakras and rainbows, in the bands of colors and their particular order. Completely the same, only the two are in reverse order from each other. It seemed that there must be a correlation between rainbows and the chakra system, so I did a quick online search.

Through my search I found an article that really put it all in perspective for me. The story suggests that the chakra color order shows humans from their grounded physical self to their connection to spirit. And then, the rainbow colors, which are seen in the reverse, show the descent of man from the heavens to earth and the connection of humanity to spirit.

All of this is joyous on its own, but if you consider the meaning of the double rainbow, you’re doubly blessed. They say that the double rainbow shows us the transformation back from the material realm to the spiritual realm. It is a powerful symbol that you are now ready to embrace living from your inner wisdom and to allow for the transformation to your soul and spirit space.

As a spiritual seeker and someone that truly believes in the concept of the chakra system it was quite profound to unearth this idea and experience yet another connection between spirit and nature, and the idea of how all things in the universe, man included, are connected. I ask you to consider this and imagine the ways that you are connected to all that is…

“Rainbows, absolute perfection in nature!”
